The Parkside Group, New York’s leading full-service public affairs firm, is seeking a Policy Associate to join our growing government relations team in Albany. The role will provide a critical support function in advancing our clients' interests by conducting in-depth research, monitoring legislative developments, building relationships with key stakeholders, and contributing to the formulation of strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Cover important and timely public hearings and press conferences across a diverse range of topic areas. Proficiently craft professional briefs for both colleagues and clients.
Once adequately informed about an issue, accompany clients and senior team members to the Capitol for active participation during advocacy days and the dissemination of pertinent materials.
Collaborate closely with the budget advocacy team to generate and compile all necessary materials tailored to clients' requirements.
Monitor newly introduced legislation in the NYS Legislature and oversee Gubernatorial Executive Orders and bill signings. Ensure timely updates to colleagues.
Conduct thorough background research and analysis, capable of presenting findings to colleagues.
Compile news clips and compose concise summaries for client alerts.
Draft written comments and/or testimonies on pending legislation in collaboration with leadership to meet specific client needs.
Provide backup support to the Director of Scheduling during peak seasons.
Warmly welcome clients to the Albany office during in-office days and offer essential office assistance in coordination with the Operations team based in NYC.
To excel in this role, applicants should have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner. Top candidates would thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple competing priorities and be a self-starter who looks for new projects and team improvements after session ends. A working knowledge of the NYS government is a plus. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and applicants will be required to submit a writing sample.

Our company continues to honor a hybrid (home and office) policy, but the candidate must be local to Albany.
Anticipated salary range is $50,000 - $60,000
