One of the State Capitol’s most tenacious advocates, Dan Katz has shaped New York policy on gaming, civil justice, and health care for more than a decade.
As Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the firm, Dan uses his encyclopedic knowledge of state government and deep relationships at the Capitol to assist our entire team on matters impacting the firm’s clients. He also represents corporate and trade association clients seeking to advance their legislative and regulatory interests before the Legislature and Executive. His successes include passing New York’s landmark sports betting law, passing the Wage Theft Prevention Act, helping the state Medicaid program recover hundreds of millions of dollars from private insurers, expanding the ability of negligence victims to seek justice, eliminating surcharges on insurance policies, protecting New Yorkers’ right to play fantasy sports, and assisting clients with more than $150 Million in state contracts.
Prior to joining our firm, he put his legal, legislative, and political acumen to work for more than a decade, holding positions in the state Attorney General’s office, at another leading Albany lobbying firm, as Legislative Director to Assemblyman Jeff Dinowitz, and as Political and Legislative Director of New Yorkers for Lawsuit Reform.
Named a Rising Star in Albany by City and State, Dan is admitted to practice law in New York and also holds a Master’s in Public Administration from the State University at Albany.
Dan lives in the City of Albany with his wife and three children.
